thanks, but my problem was a little more complicated than that.  i have three gmail accounts.  one: master. two subsidiary.  apparently, all of my recent contacts were being saved to one of my secondary accounts and that's why i couldn't find them on my computer in my master account.  so, FYI: be careful of where you are saving contacts on your phone.  cause they may not sync up correctly.
